Hard spots in my ?

okay so first of all im 18. my mom is 54 and she was diagnosed with cancer in about june. anyways, i dont want to sound paranoid which i may or may not be, but there is hardness in my left . ive always felt a bit of hardness for a few years but its been the same on each side so i thought it was fine, the past few weeks i can feel more hardness in my left . i had my mom feel it and she said "its just a muscle" but it feels really really hard to me, and im pretty sure its not the same on the other side. im not trying to go against my mother or anything because she has cancer and "would know" but she isnt a doctor and i dont think she would be able to tell. and i dont have health insurance, so i dont know what kind of doctor or who i could ask to check for me. im willing to get health insurance aand find a doctor on my own asap, i dont know how to do that. can someone please help me, im so scared and worried. i cant think or do anything right.
