Awkward situation, any suggestions?

I am a 19 year old college student. Ok the situation here is I had asked this girl out that I go to school with and she happened to turn me down, which I was all cool with. I had asked her if being just friends would be cool and she said yes. The thing is now where just in this awkward stage of limbo of knowing that I like her and would have liked to be more than just friends to trying to be good friends. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how myself and this girl could get over this awkwardness and just be good friends.
