How does one go about asking after someone after an event, in short make sure they are OK?

I'm not a ghoul but i am a person who has reason to be concerned about the recent shootings, i spent a week in seascale about 7 months before i met the wife. Lets just say i had a pleasurable time. The lady who i spent time with is OK as far as i know but i can't mention ex's to the wife for obvious reasons. I can track her down and ask after her BUT! i cannot allow something in the past to infringe on my life. What do i do?
