How Can I Tell My Therapist That I No Longer Want to Go to Her?
I think you should tell her honestly how you feel about the situation. Let her know that her using her phone during sessions is not only unprofessional and highly disrespectful, but that it is detrimental to the connection and trust that you should have with a therapist in order to truly get better. And you shouldn't worry about making her feel bad, it seems that she hasn't really had much consideration for how you feel. I know that all of this is much easier said than done. It would be easier to just skip out on those last appointments, but then you run the risk of getting charged fees for not cancelling. And trust me, that's not the way to go - I've done it and then I get letters in the mail for the bill, and that is just a further reminder of the situation and it makes me feel worse. Finding the right therapist can sometimes be difficult, but it's important. Good luck in your journey to wellness!
