Screw Publicity Rights!! Who agrees?

Does anyone agree with me that publicity rights are complete and utter bull crap? Tell me why one person or group of people should possess the exclusive rights to someone who's fame they had absolutely nothing to do with? So now, for whatever the reason, they can milk that person's image for all the money they can get while the rest of us get sued if we try it. Did you know that Albert Eintein's image is owned? One of the biggest icons of the 20th Century is "owned" by some university. Ridiculous. Einstein is a part of this nations history, yet one institution, out of the 6.5 billion people on this planet, can use make public use of his image. Same goes for Marilyn Monroe. Some random woman owns the rights to Monroe, so guess what? She gets to reap wealth because Marilyn paved her way into American history. Now did this woman have anything to do with Marilyn's success. Nope. Yet she gets to sit back and enjoy the luxuries of someone else's well deserved fame. Does that not enrage anyone? Marilyn and Einstein are a part of this nations history and as far as I'm concerned they are public domain. Sorry about the rant. Who agrees with me?
