What would be an easy, quick and inexpensive craft?

I have a friend who has helped me out through a lot of troubles this summer, and I would like to thank him. Unfortunately I lack in the funds department and am not that talented at arts &crafts, I have painted and latch-hooked projects before(I do kinda lack in the ability to paint area). So I am looking for something to make that isn't too extravagant because I don't want his girlfriend to think that I'm hitting on him, and I need it to be completed withing 2wks. Any ideas on what to do? The quicker I get ideas the better. Thanks for you help and ideas ahead of time.
